Destinations: Xieng Khouang

This morning we will be visiting the Mines Advisory Group, which is also known as the MAG Office. This agency will explain to us about the work they do in clearing land mines and unexploded ordnances, which are spread throughout the region under the ground surface, and to protect the public. We will then travel to picturesque Jar Site 2, and start out on our one hour hike to the impressive Jar Site 3. Jar Site 3 consists of over 150 jars which are located on the top of a hill. There are wonderful views that can be seen from here while looking over the surrounding countryside. After leaving Jar Site 3, we will then travel to the ancient town of Muang Khoun. Here we will explore the ruins of many ancient pagodas in this former provincial capital. You will also visit That Fun Sputa and Wat Phiaway, a ruined temple containing a huge sitting Buddha. On our return to Phonsavan Town, we will visit Jar Site 1 which is the largest jar site. Jar Site 1 contains over 300 jars. You will return to your hotel by late afternoon.
