Itineraries

Day 1

Siem Reap Arrival: (-/-/-)

Upon your arrival at Siem Reap airport, you will be met by your guide and driver and be driven to your hotel. Today’s activities will focus on the Angkor Temple complex, of which Angkor Wat is a most prominent. You will explore Angkor Wat, which is the largest temple and considered by many to be the most impressive temple in the complex. As the evening nears, you will walk to the summit of Phnom Bakheng Hill where you will witness a full panorama of the entire temple complex. Weather permitting, you will see the Angkor Temple complex back lit by the rays of the setting sun. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.

Day 2

Siem Reap: (-/-/-)

Today your day will focus on the Temple complex, of which Angkor Wat is a prominent part. You will begin the day with a visit to Angkor Thom. Your tour starts with a visit to the Bayon, a strange structure of many architectural changes which reflects a change from Hinduism (the foundations) to Buddhism (the superstructure). Your next stop will be to the Elephant and Leper King Terraces followed by the Baphoun Temple. The Temple is nearing the end of an eight-year multi-million dollar restoration program. Following lunch, you will visit Ta Prohm, which was essentially strangled over time by massive tree roots. This was the condition of the entire complex when it was discovered in 1860 by French naturalist Henri Mouhot. Your guide will then take you to the Prasat Kravan (also known as the Cardomom Sanctuary), Srah Srang Lake and the landing terrace. Srah Srang is less frequently visited by tourists and can be a sunrise alternative to Angkor Wat. Your overnight accommodation will be in Siem Reap.

Day 3

Siem Reap - Tonle Sap Lake: (-/-/-)

Following your breakfast, you will be driven to Siem Reap River and Wat Athovea. Once there, you will embark on a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake. Tonle Sap Lake is a natural reservoir that partially controls the level of water flowing into the Mekong Delta. We will visit a floating fishing village along the way. You will later return to downtown Siem Reap for lunch. This afternoon, your time will be free until your driver arrives at your hotel to bring you to Siem Reap airport.

If you wish, an ox-cart ride can be arranged for you in the village of Aranh, about 6km away from Siem Reap on the way to Tonle Sap Lake. The village is a poor community where ox-cart rides for tourists have just been arranged by the local tourism authority with the purpose of contributing some income to the local villagers. The ride will last for about 30 minutes and take you along the banks of the Siem Reap River, passing by local homes where you will learn about local people and their daily life. You will cross a small bridge to the other side of the river and end this short trip arriving at a nice rural setting and paddy-field.
